Do you have an appliance in your kitchen that you consider absolutely essential? Something that you feel NQR without? Something that you would simply have to pack and take with you – even for a weekend away? For me, that’s my Luvele yoghurt maker.
Right now, I’m feeling it. I’ve been a few weeks without it! During a wonderful 3 weeks in Thailand, I missed homemade yoghurt more than any other food. More specifically, my gut missed homemade yoghurt.
Sure, I could have bought a kind of yoghurt in the local mini mart. The sweet, desert-like variety was in plentiful supply. However, that’s not what I’m talking about. I’ve been missing the 24 hour fermentation, healing kind. My day does not get properly kick started without it. You can read all about homemade 24 hour yoghurt here.
I have never written a product review on A Gut Feeling, but it’s time. Think of this more as a homage. My ‘Luvele pure‘ deserves lavish praise as a true kitchen healing hero.
I’ve been making 24 hour SCD yoghurt for years now but I didn’t always use a Luvele maker. My first batches were painstakingly made with an insulated ‘Easyyo’ thermos inside a slow cooker filled with water. This method did the job but it was bulky, tedious and even a little dangerous. I feel a bit silly in hindsight, given how affordable an automatic machine is but little did I know.
Even though the process was arduous, I was hooked on home-made yoghurt. It gave me immediate relief. The yoghurt soothed my tender gut and I felt noticeably less inflammation and stomach pain.
Keen to make homemade yoghurt a lasting habit, I bought a cheap maker off eBay. Yoghurt making became a breeze. I was producing tub after tub of gorgeous white wobbly stuff and enjoying continuing health improvements. But I worried about making yoghurt in plastic. It just didn’t sit well with me. I was concerned about contamination and BPA. Also, after a while, the tub began to have a subtle, sour smell.
Thanks to Google the Luvele Pure yoghurt maker entered my world. And just in time too, because ‘A Gut Feeling’ was soon to launch. Finally, I had the perfect yoghurt maker to use at home and recommend. It had every feature I needed. Every box ticked; 24 hour timer, perfect temperature control, a glass bowl, and bonus; an Australian company. Read about them here.
Putting my cards on the table.
Luvele and A Gut Feeling have forged a mutually rewarding and supportive relationship over the last 18 months. We are both committed to gut health and I am pleased to collaborate and support a growing, young, Australian company. Luvele has not paid me to write this post. It is a genuine and honest endorsement. I have, however, written yoghurt recipe posts for Luvele blog page and will continue to do paid work for them in the future, if I am invited to do so.
I love giving stuff away too and Luvele generously supply me with their wonderful product to give to you!! Thanks Luvele!
